Finnish Guitarist Elmo Karjalainen To Release New Record, Entitled “Age of Heroes”.

Critically acclaimed Finnish guitarist Elmo Karjalainen is set to release his new record, entitled “Age of Heroes”. The album features 15 new original songs featuring Elmo’s unique style of playing in various genres. The album also features guest appearances from keyboard legend Derek Sherinian, whose CV reads like a who’s who of rock and metal, guitarist extraordinaire Mattias IA Eklundh, and the winners of Yngwie Malmsteen’s Guitar Gods competition, Janne Nieminen and Emil Pohjalainen. The release date is on February 3, 2017.

Age of Heroes is now set to be released.

The release will be on February 3, 2017, but you can already pre-order the album here: https://elmojk.bandcamp.com/album/age-of-heroes

The album is definitely my best electric album to date, and it features some really special moments for me. It features guest appearances by Derek Sherinian (ex Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen, Kiss, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper etc.), Mattias IA Eklundh (if you don't know who he is, check him out, he's brilliant and a big influence on me), plus Janne Nieminen and Emil Pohjalainen who won the Guitar Gods Competition in 2016, beating among others me in the final. Those bastards :D Just kidding. They deserved the win, and they're great guys.

If you want to check out a song from the new album and read a bit about it, you can do so here: http://www.elmojk.com/guitarblog/age-of-heroes-guests/

The new album is taking shape. It looks like it will be 17 tracks, and the title will be "The Age of Heroes".

Here's the first cover draft:

The album doesn't have a release date as yet, but it might make it out in 2016. If not, it will be out in early 2017.

In the mean time you can have a look at a little noodling Elmo recently did in the style of one Yngwie Malmsteen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bick7gt9yco

It's finally here. My first live album.

The name of the album is Live @ Klubi, and features 8 tracks from an evening in September 2015.

You can get your copy at https://gum.co/YzpgB

You can also check out a few videos from the album at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrPolevaulter/videos

Enjoy!

Hi folks!

I've been busy recently, and I'm going to be releasing two albums soon.

The first one is a live album, which will be available as a digital download. It featurse 8 songs from a show I did at Klubi in Turku in 2015. The release date is July 27, 2016. You can get the album here: https://gum.co/YzpgB

Here's video number one from that.

The second album is my fourth solo studio album. It's a 75 minute guitar show, featuring many different genres. This one is definitely the best one I've done so far, and certainly includes some seriously crazy playing. It features guest spots by Derek Sherinian (http://www.dereksherinian.com/), Mattias IA Eklundh (http://www.freakguitar.com/) and Janne Nieminen and Emil Pohjalainen, the winners of Guitar Gods 2016. They all played their proverbial bottoms off. Stay tuned for more info on that.

Cheers,

Elmo Karjalainen

Things are happening folks. I have a new album in the works. It's going to be 12-14 songs of instrumental madness. The album will feature guest appearances by Derek Sherinian (if you don't know who he is, Google him), Mattias IA Eklundh of Freak Kitchen, and Guitar Gods Janne and Emil. This will be killer. Planning on a late summer/early fall release.

Saty tuned.

Finnish guitarist Elmo Karjalainen has made it into the top 8 the Guitar Gods Festival competition. The top 8 are set to play in Miami on February 19.

The show will also feature appearances by Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai, two of Elmo’s biggest influences, plus a whole host of other stars.

Among the other finalists in the competition are Elmo’s countrymen Janne Nieminen and Emil Pohjalainen, who entered the contest as a duo, so Finland is strongly represented.

The purpose of the competition is to find the next guitar god to carry on the guitar hero tradition. The winner of the competition will be awarded a place on the Axes & Anchors cruise along with some of the biggest names in guitar, including Yngwie Malmsteen and Zakk Wylde.

The new album by Elmo is now out.

This one is a bit of a departure as it's a completely acoustic album.

Here's what Elmo has to say about it:

"This record was written to escape a somewhat stressful reality. It contains long notes and lots of echo. For me it was music to get lost in. So if you’re a fan of my shred guitar playing, this might not be for you. However, if you like contemplative and relaxing acoustic guitar music with nice melodies, then this might just be something you’ll like. I certainly hope you do. I know I really enjoyed making it.

In keeping with the whole relaxing, and for me therapeutic, aspect of this record, I decided to keep all manner of polishing and production to a minimum. I wanted to keep it fresh. That means that there is a lot of improvising on the record, and that there could be a few mistakes here and there. A couple of the songs on the album are actually the original demo versions. I hope it also means that it’s fresh and full of emotion, and that the emotion comes across to you. "

Seagrave's debut album is finally set to be released. You can check out a teaser video, and also pre-order here: http://www.levykauppax.fi/artist/seagrave/end_of_silence/#cd

It features some really nice guitar playing by yours truly. So if you're a fan of the more neo classical stuff that I do (you know, Yngwie and all that), then check it out.

Just confirmed: Elmo will be doing a record release gig together with Seagrave at Klubi in Turku on September 17, 2015.

More info to follow.

Hi all!

It's been a bit quiet on this front recently, but that is about to change.

To begin that change, there are now two new videos up on YouTube featuring yours truly on guitar.

One is an Acoustic Improvisation, and the other one is "Sanna", off of "Unintelligent Designs".

In other news, the new record is now mixed. Next up is mastering. The title for it is "The Free Guitar Album", and I will be posting something about the album soonish. No release schedule has been set as yet.  Stay tuned for info on that. Or if you want to be sure to receive info on it, then sign up for the newsletter on the right hand side. There's two free songs in it for you.

Also, the Seagrave record is mixed, and also waiting for mastering. No release schedule has been set for that either, and the plan is to shop around for a record company or some such thing to release it, although there is the very real possibility that we will just release it ourselves. If you're signed up for the newsletter you'll receive updates on that as well (but no spam!).

Hope to see you soon!
